This cutlery set, of which the shape is inspired by traditional family silverware, is made not only of silver, but also of a hidden layer of gold.
Each piece is made of a silver base, over which a thin layer of gold is plated. Then each piece is once again plated with a layer of silver, thus creating a sandwich of silver and concealed gold. Over the years and with daily use, the outer silver layer very slowly wears off, revealing the gold. The patterns on the surface help to increase this wearing-off process.
Instead of having a family’s initials engraved on it, this set will slowly acquire the family’s blueprint though daily use. Through wear-off it slowly becomes a unique set of which the value is more and more visible.
