Wool Figures is both a wall piece and space divider. It is made of raw wool and it can be produced in any given size, making it adaptive to any intended space. Not only will the piece function as a wall decoration or space divider, it also has acoustic properties thanks to the particular surface of the piece and the good acoustic properties of wool.

This project was developed by Studio Julie Thissen in collaboration with the creative platform IELE. One of the aims of this platform is to find new applications for discarded sheep wool from the countryside of the Romanian Carpathians. In this region of Romania, tons of sheep wool are thrown away or burned every year, as a result of poor collective management and the lack of good regional infrastructure. IELE proposes to reclaim this local and undervalued material, reevaluate its applications as a contemporary material and investigate and promote its potential qualities through design. Wool Figures is made using large quantities of this reclaimed Romanian wool.
