Play is a site-specific interactive installation by Julie Thissen and Kazuma Eekman, created for the window gallery Glad to See You in Rotterdam. Inspired by childhood memories of making dioramas, the installation combines materials such as papier-mâché, coloured rope and painted elements into a playful collage that blurs the boundaries between two- and three-dimensional work.
For this project, we decided to explore the theme of ‘play’ and let the act of playing guide our collaboration and our creation of this art installation. What does play mean to us? And what does play mean to culture and society? We invite everyone passing by to view the installation and explore our expression of play. Let your mind wander and participate in our game.
