For their 7th event, KSAT invited me to produce a piece around the theme « rebellion without a cause ».
Rebellions come and go throughout history, each one with its own characteristic ideologies and identity. While each rebellion comes forth in a different context and with context-specific reasons and causes, one element that is common to many rebellious groups is the strong visual identities and specific aesthetics they possess, where members conform with their group while at the same time being non-conform to the rest of society.
This work investigates the question « what is rebellion without a cause? » by disconnecting the ideologies from the aesthetics. What is left of a rebellion when only the visual elements remain and are placed in a different context?
